Nogosan(487m)

Nogosan(487m) Where: Yangju, Gyeonggi-do When: December 25, 2024 Nogosan is not a large mountain, with an elevation of only 487 meters. Therefore, the trail's ascent and descent remain moderate. The Nogosan hike is suitable for novice hikers. Despite its relatively small size, its appeal to hikers comes from the fantastic view of the peaks of Bukhansan Mountain. At the top of Nogosan, hikers can enjoy an amazing view of several rock peaks of Bukhansan. It took more than five hours to complete the trail, according to the trail map below. We had a long lunch break, which led to the longer time. Typically, it takes around three hours and thirty minutes. I got off at Gupabal Station on Subway Line 3 and took bus number 704. I also got off at the Heunggooksa Temple stop. The trail starts at Heunggooksa. The ascent of the trail remains moderate  Sign post Rock peaks of Bukhansan Mountain Peak of Nogosan

Homyeongsan(632.4m) Where: Gapyeong-gun When: December 4, 2024 I took the train to Chuncheon and got off at Sangcheon Station, from where the hike began. After about an hour of moderate ascent, I reached Homyeong Lake. This lake was created for a pumped-storage hydroelectric power plant. Outside of the winter season, there’s bus service available from the station to the lake. The trail from the lake to the peak of Homyeongsan is not too challenging. The descent offers stunning views of Cheongpyeong Lake. After more than five hours of hiking, I finally arrived at Cheongpyeong Station. Baekunbong(940m) Where: Yangpyeong-gun, Kyeonggi-do When: December 14, 2024 I took train(Joongangsun Line) and got off at the Yangpyeong Station. From there, took a taxi for 15 minutes to Sesugol. Taxi fair amounts to 8,500won. Hiking starts at Sesugol.   There are two routes to reach the peak. One trail ascends steeply through Duribong, and it continues with ridge hiking afterward. The other trail takes a gentler path through the valley. I chose to ascend via the ridge while I descended through the valley. The entire hike took more than five hours, including rest breaks. Guided Bukhansan Hikes

About KH South Korea boasts many beautiful mountains, several of which are conveniently located near the capital city of Seoul and are easily accessible by subway. I worked for a financial company in Seoul for many years. One day, I went hiking on Gwanaksan Mountain in Gyeonggi Province, but I only made it halfway up because it was quite challenging for me. This experience inspired me to start exploring more mountains in Korea, including Bukhansan Mountain in Seoul. I fell in love with hiking on weekends and, over the past 30 years, I have hiked many mountains throughout Korea. After retiring several years ago, I began guiding mountain hikes. Whether the mountain is large or small, there are always risks associated with mountaineering. As a mountain guide, I prioritize safety in hiking. If you are interested in hiking, please feel free to contact me. I would be happy to suggest a customized hike that suits your preferences. Email: song.khs@gmail.co m Bukhansan National Park Aw...
